Phildelphia Style: Six Up-And-Coming Fashion Designers You Need to Know

Sara Keel

Sara Keel, Founder and Designer of Penrose

“My mom sews and made a lot of my clothing when I was younger and taught me to sew at a young age. I started making my own clothing in high school because I wanted to stand out but could never find anything I wanted to wear. I did a lot of thrifting and would re-make vintage pieces to update them and tailor them to fit me. I went to Savannah College of Design for Fashion and after graduating I signed on with Anthropologie as a design intern, and ended up designing for the company for 11 years before making the decision to start my own line.”
